It creates a foamy lather as it cleans, and is very effective in removing oil and dirt from clothes and surfaces. It is inexpensive and almost completely biodegradable.<\/p>\n<p>SLS is a common ingredient in laundry detergents, dish soaps, shampoos and toothpaste. SLS is also in the coatings of some drugs to help them dissolve after being swallowed.<\/p>\n<p>SLS is a detergent and surfuctant which essentially means that it breaks surface tension and separates molecules in order to allow better interaction between the product and your hair. This in turn creates a lather which makes products such as shampoo and toothpaste more effective cleaners.
